Handcrafted pieces deserve a little love
There’s something special about wood furniture—it adds warmth, texture, and soul to your space. Whether it’s a vintage heirloom or a handcrafted barn door TV stand or rustic dog kennel from our workshop in Hawaii, caring for your wood furniture helps it age gracefully and last for generations.

1. Dust Regularly (The Right Way)
Dust can dull the natural luster of wood and cause fine scratches over time. Use a soft, lint-free cloth (we love microfiber) to gently wipe the surface.
Pro Tip: Lightly dampen the cloth with water or a bit of wood-friendly polish to catch more dust without sending particles flying.

2. Clean Up Spills Immediately
Wood is naturally porous, which means it absorbs liquids quickly—leading to stains or warping. If a spill happens, gently blot (don’t wipe!) with a dry cloth.
Sticky messes? Use a slightly damp cloth followed by a dry one.

3. Use a Mild Soap Solution for Deeper Cleaning
Every now and then, your piece deserves a refresh:
-
Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm water.
-
Dip a soft cloth, wring it out well, and gently wipe the surface.
-
Rinse with a clean damp cloth and dry immediately with a soft towel.
Avoid: Harsh chemicals, ammonia-based cleaners, and excessive water—they can damage the finish and the wood.

4. Polish Occasionally, Not Excessively
A little polish goes a long way. It can restore that beautiful sheen and add a light layer of protection, but too much can lead to buildup.
Choose a natural beeswax-based polish or a product made specifically for wood. Always test in a hidden spot first.

5. Protect from Sunlight and Humidity
Sunlight can fade and crack wood over time, and high humidity can cause swelling or warping. Keep your furniture out of direct sunlight, and try to maintain a consistent indoor humidity level.
Bonus Tips:
-
Use coasters, placemats, and felt pads to prevent rings, scratches, and scuffs.
-
Avoid placing hot or wet items directly on wood surfaces.
Caring for Your Handcrafted Pieces
Every piece we create—from our signature barn door TV stands to our patent-winning Fine Rustic Original Dog Kennels—is built with intention and heart. We use real wood, not composites or shortcuts, so proper care truly preserves the story behind each design.
